#GivingTuesdayNow is a new global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 – as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.
Families who were already struggling before the public health crisis began now face exacerbated setbacks caused by the economic upheaval. Local families continue to struggle in the financial instability and uncertainty of recent times.
In fact, the families who partner with us are often those who are particularly at risk. The uncertainty so many of us feel today, many families have felt for a lifetime- if not generations.
As a friend of Habitat for Humanity of Lake-Sumter, join us and use the individual power of generosity to stay connected and help heal our community. Whatever you can do — monetary or not — will mean a lot.
Here are a few ways we invite you to build alongside our families:
Donate a cash gift now: Any gift, no matter how big or small, makes a huge difference in providing safe and affordable shelter.
Write a ‘Welcome Home’ note: As we work to provide 5 families with the keys to their new home, we ask that you send a Welcome Letter to a future homeowner and their family. Share in the family’s excitement of building a better future, offer words of advice and encouragement! We are in this together!

Advocate for Safe & Affordable Home Ownership: Many local families are now facing additional economic hardship from lost wages or layoffs and are confronted with impossible choices between trying to pay their rent or mortgage and life’s other essentials. Please email your House representative and urge them to create the Housing Assistance Fund!
Create a Legacy Today: We know that cash donations might not be right for everyone, but giving a gift in your will to create a legacy with Habitat Lake-Sumter is a powerful commitment to our work and mission for generations to come.
