Preservation & Repair

preservationrepair

Our Preservation & Repair program began in 2015 in response to the affordable housing needs of the community.  We found that there were individuals and families who already owned an affordable home but needed a little extra help in maintaining and preserving the safety of that home. Through this program, homeowners are able to stay in the homes in which they already live, while increasing the safety, accessibility, and beauty of the home.

In partnership with sponsors and volunteers, the Preservation & Repair program works to preserve the existing affordable housing stock, improve accessibility and safety of the homes through critical home repairs, and revitalize low-income neighborhoods and community spaces. We serve eligible homeowners within Lake and Sumter Counties who demonstrate a need and are willing to partner with Habitat.

Some examples of the kind of work that is completed: repair or replacement of roofs, windows, doors, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and addition of accessibility features.
