5 Ways to Achieve Your New Years Resolutions with Habitat Lake-Sumter
As the new year begins, many of us are motivated to make a positive impact. If your resolutions include getting more involved in your community, here are 5 ways you can do that with Habitat Lake-Sumter:
1.Give: Every dollar given to Habitat Lake-Sumter is poured back directly into our community. Your generosity provides new affordable housing opportunities, critical home repairs, and other crucial affordable housing resources to families across Lake and Sumter Counties. No matter the amount, when you donate to Habitat Lake-Sumter, you’re contributing directly to changing your community for the better.
Looking for a way to create change and be involved all year long? Become a monthly donor and carry your resolution throughout the year! Interested in giving? Donate online here or contact Kim at kim@habitatls.org for more information.
2.Volunteer: Habitat Lake-Sumter runs on volunteers, and we always need an extra set of hands! Whether you’re a pro with a hammer or a total construction novice, there’s a place for you with Habitat Lake-Sumter. Volunteer opportunities can be found on our construction sites, in our offices, and even at our ReStores.
Make new friends and learn new skills by volunteering with Habitat-Lake Sumter. Your time can help turn someone’s dream into reality! Want to volunteer? Contact Carlos at carlos@habitatls.org for more information.
3.Share: An easy way to help positively influence your community this year is by sharing Habitat Lake-Sumter’s mission, the work we’re doing, and the resources we provide. We want everyone to have a decent place to live, and to know that Habitat Lake-Sumter is a resource to help make that happen. Helping connect us with folks that are passionate about affordable housing change, or families that need our assistance is one of the greatest ways to be involved in the Habitat-Lake Sumter community.
Chat with friends and family or share on social media – there’s no wrong way to spread the word! You can find us on Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, and online at www.habitatls.org.
4.Clean out your Clutter: Is giving your space a fresh start on your resolution list as well? Consider giving your gently used items to your local ReStore. Our ReStores accept many types of furniture, appliances, home accessories, building materials, and more. Donating is hassle-free – you can make your donation at either of our ReStore locations, or schedule a free order pick-up with our dispatch center.
The best part? All proceeds from our ReStores go directly towards supporting our mission to build homes, communities, and hope. Ready to schedule your donation pick-up? Call our dispatch center at 352-589-3005.
5.Join Us for Women Build: Women Build is an annual event that brings together women-led teams to fundraise for and construct a brand-new affordable home for a deserving family in our community. The impact of this event goes well beyond just one home, however – it ripples out. Our Women Builders make a community-wide impact as advocates for simple, affordable housing for all.
Fundraising for Women Build runs from March through May, and volunteers are welcome out on site from May to October.
Women Build is the perfect opportunity to create meaningful change right in your backyard, and invites you to bring your friends and family along for the ride with you.
Mobilize your community and multiply your impact through Women Build! Join the movement on March 20th for our Women Build Kickoff party to learn more about the event and how you can be involved. Reach out to Hannah at hannah@habitatls.org for more details.
