April 28, Habitat for Humanity of Lake-Sumter held a dedication at 1330 Cottage Circle in Tavares to celebrate completion of its first three-unit triplex in the Cottages at Heritage Grove neighborhood. At the event, three new homeowners were presented with the keys to their new homes.

This project is the result of the 2025 Women Build initiative, where women from across the community raised more than $84,000 and helped build these homes alongside Habitat staff and volunteers. The triplex holds special meaning for everyone involved, especially those who participated in the wall raising on May 3, 2025, when Women Builders helped lift the first walls into place.

A separate celebration of the site was held May 5 to recognize the hard work of students in the Eustis High School Youth Construction Academy, who began work on the building at the beginning if the recent school year.

“It’s been incredible to watch it all come together. That, alongside our wonderful community partners, have created the opportunity for three families in our community to achieve their dreams of affordable home ownership,” said Hannah Zeller, the local Habitat’s associate director of development.
