South Lake High School Students Help Build Hope Through Habitat for Humanity Partnership

On May 8 in Groveland, the completion of a newly constructed home was celebrated — a home built with heart, hard work, and dedication by the students of the South Lake High School Youth Construction Academy. The milestone marked not only the successful completion of an incredible project, but also the beginning of a new chapter for the family who will soon receive the keys to their home.

The project was made possible through a partnership between Habitat for Humanity of Lake-Sumter and the South Lake High School Youth Construction Academy, a vocational program designed to introduce students to the construction industry while preparing them for future careers in the skilled trades.

A hand-selected group of students participated in every phase of the project, from groundbreaking to final construction, gaining valuable real-world experience throughout the process. Students who complete the program graduate with opportunities for internships and employment within the construction field.
