Activities (Ways We Help)
Our Work
Homeownership
Annually, club members raise the funds to sponsor one new home construction project with Habitat Lake-Sumter. Club members manage the construction from foundation to finish, building on-site 3x per week, beginning in October.
Each future homeowner and their family works alongside club members and fellow volunteers, to build their home, prepare for responsible homeownership, and create meaningful connection. We celebrate at the end of the build by handing the key to the family and dedicating their new home.

Villagers Home Assist (VHA)
Beginning in 2022, Club Members began to provide home maintenance for fellow residents in The Villages, consisting of exterior painting, lawn cleanup, pressure washing and minor repair services. We will provide a consultation service for projects outside our scope with recommendations for trusted contractors.
Requirements:
- Recipient must own and occupy the home.
- Recipient must sign a Release and Waiver of Liability.
- Recipient must pay for the materials prior to the project.
We ask that a donation be made in support of our fundraising efforts to build a new home with Habitat Lake-Sumter.

The Creative Emporium at the Leesburg ReStore
The Creative Emporium at the Leesburg ReStore is your go-to spot for unique home goods and furnishings. Managed by Habitat Lake-Sumter Villages Club Members, every purchase made from the Creative Emporium goes directly to support Habitat’s mission of creating affordable housing in our community.
Filled with fun antique finds and beautiful hand-crafted items, the Creative Emporium has a little something for everyone.
To volunteer or donate items to the Creative Emporium, please contact us for more information.
Jingle Build Off
The Habitat Lake-Sumter Villages Club is instrumental in Habitat Lake-Sumter’s annual fundraising event, Jingle Build-Off, hosted every December.
Club members cut lumber, prime pieces, and assemble the playhouse kits months in advance. Once complete, kits are placed with businesses and organizations to design and build a playhouse for specially selected families, as a gift during the holiday season. Jingle Build-Off is a hallmark event hosted by Habitat Lake-Sumter and is a key undertaking by the Club each year.
