Smart Giving: Two Impactful Ways to Give Back

Looking for a meaningful way to support Habitat for Humanity of Lake-Sumter while also being smart with your finances? Two popular giving options—Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) and Donor Advised Funds (DAFs)—allow you to make a lasting impact on families in our community while also maximizing tax benefits.

Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)

If you’re 70½ or older, you may be eligible to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA). A QCD allows you to transfer up to $100,000 per year straight to a qualified charity like Habitat Lake-Sumter—without counting it as taxable income.

Even better, a QCD can satisfy all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the year. That means you can support affordable housing efforts and reduce your tax burden at the same time.

Your QCD gift can help local families stay in safe, stable homes—making your retirement dollars work for good.

Grants from Donor Advised Funds (DAFs)

Already have a Donor Advised Fund? Recommending a grant to Habitat for Humanity of Lake-Sumter is a simple way to support our mission. With a DAF, you receive an immediate tax deduction when you contribute to the fund, and then you can distribute grants to charitable organizations on your timeline.

DAFs are a great tool for strategic, long-term giving—and your grant helps us meet urgent housing needs, plan for future builds, and ensure more families have a place to call home.

Make a Smarter Impact

Whether you’re planning for retirement or exploring ways to give more intentionally, QCDs and DAFs offer flexible and effective ways to support Habitat Lake-Sumter.
