Habitat for Humanity celebrates students and new homes

May 1, Habitat for Humanity of Lake-Sumter held a dedication ceremony to celebrate completion of a new affordable home in Tavares, which came about with help from students in the Youth Construction Academy at Eustis High School.
It was one of four public dedication events for new homes in the area, all of which recognized the students of Habitat’s high school-based Youth Construction Academy.
The academy is designed to provide experiential learning and introduce students to the field of construction, according to Habitat. Students graduate with access and opportunities for internships and employment – including several who went on to graduate and gain jobs in the industry.
