Habitat for Humanity of Lake-Sumter and New Covenant United Methodist Church kicked off construction on their third home together as part of an ongoing affordable housing partnership in Sumter County.

The organizations marked the start of construction Wednesday, Oct. 14, at a home site on 5th Street in Wildwood.

Habitat Lake-Sumter said its partnership with New Covenant began in 2024, building on the church’s longtime efforts to support construction, home repairs and families in the Wildwood and Lady Lake areas.

The latest project marked the third Habitat home built through the partnership.

Habitat Lake-Sumter said volunteers and community partners would help complete the home for a local family. Through the organization’s Homeownership Program, qualified families purchase affordable homes and participate in requirements including sweat equity and homebuyer education.
