What are the Cottages at Heritage Grove?

The Cottages at Heritage Grove is a 23-unit pocket neighborhood, featuring cottage-style homes and townhomes at approximately 730 sq. ft. This pocket neighborhood will be the first age-qualified community (55+) built by Habitat for Humanity of Lake-Sumter. The community will provide access and opportunity to safe, decent, and affordable homeownership for qualified families that meet the following criteria: must live or work in Lake or Sumter Counties, qualify for the 55+ designation as outlined by the State of Florida, have a household income at or below 80% Area Median Income, meet a target credit score of 640, qualify for an affordable mortgage, and agree to partner with Habitat for Humanity by performing sweat equity hours. 

Why a Pocket Neighborhood? 

The Cottages at Heritage Grove are a local priority because families in Lake and Sumter Counties are in need of safe and quality-built affordable housing units. By building this 23-unit  neighborhood, Habitat Lake-Sumter will not only provide access and opportunity to attainable housing but will address long-term solutions to affordability, sustainability, and the value of aging-in-place.  Through the Habitat for Humanity model of homeownership, 23 families will have better living conditions that lead to improved health, along with the ability and financial flexibility to make forward looking choices.
